The Narwhalist
The Narwhalist is Grant Heaslip and Mathew Suen. We design and develop websites. Feel free to get in touch.
We punch above our weight.
There are no middlemen—the people designing your site are the same people who reply to your emails. We don’t waste our time (and your money) on meetings, procedures, layers of abstraction, or rigid job titles. When we have a cool idea, we just try it out. When you’re happy, we’re happy.
We do it right the first time.
We care about what we make; we sweat (and debate) the details; and we make decisions informed by experience. We don’t say “nobody’s going to care about that” or “it’s good enough.” Doing it right the first time takes longer, but it’s better than doing it twice (or settling for mediocrity).
We’re forward-looking.
New web technologies allow sites to perform better, be more mobile-friendly, use more advanced typography, and generally be more awesome. Some of them are mature and widely supported; others aren’t. The web is an exciting but turbulent platform; we do our best to use what works without sticking with the lowest common denominator.
We design for people.
People—not “users”, “hits”, “clicks”, or “impressions”—are going to use your site every day. They’re not the ones signing the cheque, but we’ll always fight for them, because we know that their happiness is paramount to your success.
